Dr. Garson Caruso is a board certified occupational physician and Certified Life Care Planner (CLCP) with expertise in Life Expectancy Determination. He serves as a Medical Expert Witness in occupational medicine (particularly impairment and disability, and fitness for duty evaluation), personal injury, professional liability, Life Expectancy Determination, and Life Care Planning (with testimony in multiple settings). Dr. Caruso has a broad background in consulting, medical direction, and occupational health services for organizations including AmTrust North America, Bechtel, Bell & Evans, Dean Foods, the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions, Lockheed Martin, The New York Transit Authority, PepsiCo, Service Employees International Union, and the US Departments of State and Transportation (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration). He has very extensive clinical experience, including current supervision of physician extenders (nurse practitioners and physician assistants) in multiple onsite occupational health facilities, and has reviewed thousands of complex disability and workers compensation claims for Advance Medical, AmTrust, Assurant, CorVel, Mutual of Omaha, and others. He is a Fellow of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM) and the International Academy of Independent Medical Evaluators (IAIME), and a Certified Medicolegal Evaluator (CMLE) and Medical Review Officer (MRO). He has published and spoken on many occupational medicine and life expectancy topics and has served in leadership positions in ACOEM and IAIME.
